We are a small mountain bike clothing company based in London and the North Downs run by three friends Simon, Nic and Paul.
You can’t help but get into bikes living between three of the North Down’s largest hills; Box, Leith and Ranmore. The surrounding area is a tangle of single track, a mix of venerable old trails that seem as old and familiar as your dad and the new trails evolving out of deer runs or hacked out of the undergrowth by ambitious cyclists for a summer only to be reclaimed by falling leaves come the autumn. A place full of missed turns and surprises, ripped jeans and bloody shins, rich loam and polished roots.
We thrashed the bridleways and singletrack of Leith Hill for years until we discovered dirt jumps and trails and pretty soon we swapped root sections for rollers, building and riding our own trails on the outskirts of town. After about four years of spending almost every weekend and most summer evenings building in the woods we ended up with hefty calluses, bad backs and a pretty decent trails spot. Not content with riding our own trails, we started racing and heading off in overloaded hatchbacks on roadtrips around the UK, eventually travelling further afield to the alps and Whistler, Canada. All the while collecting and publishing a loose collection of pictures and videos of our time spent mountain biking on our website; Rythumandflow.
After a while our website had built up a decent following and what with a mutual interest in design it seemed like natural progression that we produce a set of T-shirts. Nic and Si set about designing two shirts and a new website. We stocked the range in local skate shops in our hometown and sold them direct through the website and we ended up doing pretty well.
Time passed.
Our trails were plowed.
Twice.
We continued riding. Jimmy started his new trails which has since grown into one of the raddest spots in the local area, a few headed to Wisley and a few more continued digging in the local area. But, pretty soon uni called and we ended up going our separate ways to the other ends of the country.
After 3/4 years of at uni we found ourselves in London working during the week and riding back at our old spots up on Leith Hill at the weekend and our love for the sport was rekindled. This company is about plowing this love for cycling (not to mention the other sports that we’ve fostered a passion for in the past few years; snowboarding and surfing) into something constructive and positive. Here goes.
